Compare Mobile Internet Plans from 3
Are you are a person who has come to rely on a broadband internet connection being available at all times because you have to keep connected to your work place? Maybe you work from home. Whatever your reason for needing a good reliable broadband connection, the 3 mobile broadband connection is just what you have been looking for. That is if you want the freedom of being able to leave your PC behind in your home office and take your laptop out into the park to do your work. 3 mobile broadband will allow you to take your work with you wherever you go.
All you need do to create such freedom for yourself is to plug in a little USB device, known as a dongle, into your laptop, notebook, or any other type of internet carrying device and you are away. You are now free from having to be connected to a fixed landline all the time or having to be continuously on the lookout for the next wireless hot spot. The same dongle can be used to plug into your PC back home if your telephone connection breaks down for any reason. You can connect to your 3 mobile broadband in this way as a permanent back up for your PC at home and take it with you when you travel. Your new found freedom will astound you.
There is no installation CD required when you use a USB dongle modem to make contact with the internet on your laptop or any other such device. It will install the necessary software itself once you plug it in and it is then ready for immediate use.
Many Factors Affect Broadband Internet Speeds
The broadband internet speeds you get will depend on where you are located at the time of making a connection as well as the type of plan you have signed up to when you purchased your dongle. Mobile broadband operates by using a radio signal and the strength of this signal can be affected by your distance from a radio tower that is transmitting the signal, as well as the prevailing weather conditions, and the type of construction of the building you are in at the time. The stronger the signal the smoother and faster your internet experience will be.
Mobile Broadband Came to Australia in 2003
Australia saw the introduction of 3 mobile broadband internet connection in 2003 and its coverage has been steadily expanding across the country ever since. It is most reliable in and around the major urban areas particularly places like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, Canberra and Adelaide.
When outside the 3 mobile broadband zone a range of MEGA mobile phones and modems have been introduced to give 3G speeds as long as you are in what is known as a 3G roaming zone. When in such a zone you will notice either an ‘R’ symbol or the word ‘roaming’ on your handset screen. This will mean you have access to some 3G services like video calling, mobile internet and planet 3. On other occasions you might see the symbols ‘H’, ’3G’ or ’3′. These all represent different speeds the signal is being received at. Mobile broadband internet users will see ’3G Roaming’ or ‘EDGE Roaming’ on their connection manager. The modem light will also glow a green blue colour meaning you are receiving a lesser 2G/3G signal.
Vodafone’s Range of Mobile Devices
Thanks to the new 3-Vodafone partnership you have a range of mobile devices to choose from that will allow you to access mobile broadband. These include the Vodafone mega modem and pocket WiFi. Vodafone claim they work in more countries when you are on the move as well as have a greater ability to access more networks. They are also available as prepaid, contract or month to month options.
The Vodafone Mega Modem that you plug into your laptop as well as the Vodafone pocket Wifi 2 allows you to connect five devices to the broadband internet. If you feel it is not for you within 30 days you can have the service cancelled . No fees are charged for cancellation but you will be expected to pay for the usage you have given it up until cancellation. You can choose form the following plans:
- 3 Mobile Broadband 1Gb Plan. Different plans have the same broadband internet speeds when in the CBD of a major city. The plan you choose to sign up to will often be determined by the amount of money you are willing to pay but you should also take into account the amount of downloads you will be doing. For instance the cheapest plan will give you 3.6 mbps, but you will only be charged a monthly fee of $15.00, and you will be restricted to one gigabyte of data.
- 3 Mobile 6Gb Plan. The broadband internet connection speed for this plan is still 3.6 mbps but you will be allowed six gigabytes of data. The cost of this plan is $39.00 a month.
- 3 Mobile 8Gb Plan. This plan will also give the same broadband internet speed of the other two, at 3.6 mbps, but you will be able to access eight gigabytes of data in any one month. It will however cost you $49.00 a month.
There is no doubt that a mobile broadband internet connection can be quite useful in allowing you to take your work with you, and being able to remain connected to your family and friends when you travel. You will be at ease when you know you will not have to find a fixed line connection somewhere in order to access your emails or send in a late report. The fact that you will be able to stay in touch with the office no matter where you are can actually change your lifestyle considerably. Not to mention being able to keep up to date with what is happening on Facebook and Twitter. As with most technical advancements, once you have experienced it you will wonder how you lived without it.
