The Engin VoIP Ignition 89 Broadband Plan Compare Engin’s VoIP Ignition range to see if it suits your needs.
Engin takes pride in being Australia’s leading provider of telephone and broadband services. With the technology they provide, customers are able to make and receive voice calls through the Internet using Voice Over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.
VoIP is a telephone voice service that makes use of an Internet broadband connection instead of traditional telephone landlines. Initially, only large businesses and corporations could avail of the service, given its cost and the resources it takes up. Thanks to Engin, the VoIP technology is now open for small businesses and residential users at very affordable prices.
Engin has introduced three new plans that bundle ADSL2+ and VoIP services. These bundles are branded as VoIP ignition, and offer three different packages with monthly prices at $69, $89 and $109 depending on your usage needs. Each plan comes with ADSL2+ broadband access, a monthly data quota that has no peak or off peak times, and a VoIP plan that gives you unlimited local and national calls.
The Engin VoIP Ignition 89 Broadband Plan
The Engin VoIP Ignition 89 Broadband Plan offers a data quota of 300 GB which you can use at any time. You do not get charged for excess download use if you exceed the monthly data quota. Instead, your connection is shaped to run at 256 kbps, which is still a decent connection speed for regular browsing. Uploads are unmetered, which means the 300 GB counts only against the downloads you make.
If your connection has been shaped, you have the option to purchase afterburners to top up your data quota so you can go back to using the Internet at a faster speed. Afterburners cost $5 for every 2 GB. You can also purchase an “anytime boost” for the same price, even if you are still within your monthly data quota.
Engin VoIP Ignition 89 Broadband Plan users also get one static IP address with their connection.
VoIP Service
As mentioned, the Engin VoIP Ignition 89 Broadband Plan comes with unlimited local and national calls on VoIP. The 89 plan also comes with unlimited mobile calls, so long as the calls are made from within your residence. Unlimited international calls can be made to eight countries: Canada, Germany, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. These calls are to standard international landlines only. Call charges are at 20 cents for other countries, including China, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan.
VoIP calls do not count against your monthly data quota. This means you can go ahead and make all the calls you want without worrying that it is eating up your 300 GB monthly allocation.
Engin also allows you to transfer your existing landline number with another provider to their service for $28.95 per month.
Month to Month vs. 24 Month Contract
The Engin VoIP Ignition 89 Broadband Plan can be availed of on a month to month payment basis, or with a 24 month contract. Here is a quick comparison of fees when availing of either one of these contracts:
- Setup fee – signing up for a month to month service with Engin requires an upfront setup fee of $99. A 24 month contract has no signing fee with VoIP Ignition 89.
- Hardware – month to month contracts get a four port modem/router with costs starting from $69. If you avail of the 24 month contract, the four port modem/router comes with a bonus Voicebox.
- Monthly fee – both month to month and 24 months contract cost $89, but with the fees for setup and hardware it would be more economical to avail of the long term contract rather than the short-term, monthly basis.
You can get even more savings by getting rid of your old landline and going all out with Engin’s services.
Note that ending the service within the 24 month contract term will merit a disconnection fee of $15 per month for the remaining months of the term. So if you decided to end your VoIP Ignition 89 with five months to go, multiply $15 by five months and you will be charged a $75 disconnection fee.
